Baptist World Alliance General Secretary Elijah Brown will address graduates
IRVING, Texas (May 3, 2022)—B. H. Carroll Theological Institute cordially invites its students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of its supporting churches to attend its 2022 Spring Convocation and Graduation Ceremony at First Baptist Church Grand Prairie on Friday, May 27, at 7 p.m.
This year’s convocation and graduation celebration will feature the Singing Men of Texas and a keynote address by Dr. Elijah Brown, general secretary of the Baptist World Alliance, the global body of fellowship for 47 million Baptists in 126 countries. BWA represents more than 169,000 churches.
Twenty-two graduates will receive degrees and certificates—five Doctor of Philosophy degrees, 16 master’s degrees, and one ministry certificate. The ceremony will also feature two inductions into Delta Epsilon Chi, the honor society for the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE).
The ceremony at First Baptist Grand Prairie marks the first of Carroll’s face-to-face convocation and commencement services since the COVID-19 pandemic began. This year’s Doctor of Philosophy graduates include pastors and seminary instructors from California, Louisiana, Texas, Cuba, and Ukraine.
“We are working diligently to ensure our graduates from Cuba and Ukraine will be able to attend, if the international diplomatic processes and world events allow,” Carroll’s President Dr. Gene Wilkes said. “Both of these dedicated servants of Christ deserve to be recognized—as all of our graduates do—for their commitment to the body of Christ.”
“Each one of these graduates has undertaken a great journey to come to this day. They are the future of local church leadership, Christian academia, and the ministry of Christian counseling. I couldn’t be more proud of them and I am humbled by their dedication to serving our Lord,” Wilkes said.
