Admission Requirements
Master’s Degrees Admission Requirements
Applicants for the master’s degree are required to have completed a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
The following steps must be taken to apply:
- Submission of an online application here.
- Submission of supplemental documentation. As part of the online application, the applicant will submit the following supplemental documents:
- Official transcript(s) from an earned baccalaureate degree*
- Three recommendations
- Church endorsement
- Statements of past Christian experience and call to ministry
- A digital photograph
- Application fee ($50)
Doctoral Degrees Admission Requirements
Applicants for a Carroll doctoral degree (DMin or PhD) are required to have completed a baccalaureate degree and a master’s degree from an accredited college, university, or seminary. Doctoral applicants are required to meet the general admission requirements before they are considered for admission to a doctoral program.
The following steps must be taken to apply:
- Submission of an online application here.
- Submission of supplemental documentation. As part of the online application, the applicant will be given detailed instructions regarding the following supplemental documents:
- Official transcripts from all earned baccalaureate and master’s degrees*
- Three recommendations
- Church endorsement
- Statements of past Christian Experience and call to ministry
- A digital photograph
- Application fee ($100)
Upon completion of the general application and the review of transcripts by the director of the program to which the student has applied, the doctoral applicant is required to submit a writing sample (a research paper for the PhD/a reflective paper for the DMin), participate in an interview with the Doctoral Programs Council, and (if necessary) take a qualifying exam (such as a language barrier exam). Ministry Certificate Admission Requirements
The Ministry Certificate is a non-accredited program designed to provide preparation for graduate-level study for students who do not hold a bachelor’s degree.
The following steps are required to apply:
- Submission of an online application here.
- Submission of supplemental documentation. As part of the online application, the applicant will submit the following supplemental documents:
- Copy of an earned High School diploma or GED
- Copy of transcripts of any undergraduate level work
- Pastoral recommendation
- Statement of past Christian experience
- A digital photograph
- Application fee ($25)
Graduate Certificates Admission Requirements
Carroll’s Graduate Certificates provide master level education for people engaged in specific areas of ministry, but not interested in seeking a degree. A Graduate Certificate consists of four (4) courses within a cluster, corresponding to an area of study. The Graduate Certificates are transcriptable, i.e., the courses are taken for academic credit and are recorded on a student transcript to be applied to a degree program at Carroll or transferred to another institution. Please know that no guarantee is made that another institution would apply these courses to one of their degrees.
Applicants for the Graduate Certificate should have completed a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale).

* Applicants will also be considered who have a comparable degree from a recognized institution outside the US.
