This course will consist of the reading of Ugaritic texts, systematic vocabulary acquisition, and the mastery of certain aspects of the morphology (verb paradigms, noun paradigms), phonology, and syntax of the Ugaritic language. Substantial attention will also be given to comparative philology (e.g., thus providing a window into Hebrew and Aramaic). Substantial emphasis will be placed each class period on the vocalization of the text.
