This course is a focused study of the history of Christian revivals from the 1740s to present day. It covers the First and Second Great Awakenings, the revival of 1857-58 (a possible Third Great Awakening), the rise of Pentecostal Revivalism through Azusa Street and the Four Square Gospel Church, the Welsh Revival of 1904, and modern revivalism (even the Jesus Movement). Special attention is given to prominent personalities such as Gilbert Tennent, Jonathan Edwards, Barton Stone, Alexander Campbell, Charles G. Finney, Dwight L. Moody, Billy Sunday, Charles Parham, William Seymour, Aimee Semple McPherson, and Billy Graham.
