Dr. Tommy Vaughn, who graduated in May 2016 with a PhD in Counseling and Psychology, was elected President of the South Carolina Counseling Association for the 2018-19 year. He will serve as President Elect this year. Currently, Dr. Vaughn is a member of the Executive Council and serves as Parliamentarian and as liaison with the Association for Counselor Education & Supervision. He is also a Mental Health Counselor for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health.
The South Carolina Counseling Association (SCCA) is the only state chartered organization of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and is committed to providing leadership, advocacy, and education that promotes the growth and development of all professional counselors. It has a membership of over 1000 counselors. Dr. Scott Floyd, Senior Fellow and Director of Carroll’s Psychology and Counseling program, commented, “This is an incredible honor, and as South Carolina has a very active Counseling Association, it is no easy feat.”
