B.H. Carroll network expands

IRVING, Texas (March 12, 2020) – B.H. Carroll has entered into four new strategic partnerships that give greater breadth and depth to the Institute’s reach.

Following the approval of the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia in January, B.H. Carroll will begin offering courses at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon. The Higher Education Center, a multi-college and university site, partners with public and private colleges and universities to provide certificates, degree programs and professional development courses.

Closer to home, the Denton Baptist Association (DBA) has joined the Carroll network. Pastors from the association met March 4 with President Gene Wilkes and DBA Director of Missions Morgan Malone at a luncheon hosted by Dr. Stephen Hatfield at First Baptist Church Lewisville. Hatfield is on B.H. Carroll’s Board of Governors.

“To encourage readers—local church members—to try a course, we have provided for the association coupons worth $40 which can be redeemed for the cost of sitting in on the first class,” Wilkes said. “We hope those who take the courses will like what they see. We believe they will because what they learn will strengthen the local church.”

First Baptist Church of Pearland, Texas, also offered its first Carroll course, “Pain and Suffering” by Dr. Reagan White, to its members. The course originated at First Baptist, Wylie, Texas. Pearland is the newest addition to the Carroll Live Network.

In addition to the efforts in Virginia, the DBA, and FBC Pearland, Carroll has also entered into a strategic partnership with Seminary Now, a partnership including Intervarsity Press, Northern Seminary, Apprentice Institute, the magazine Preaching Today, and other ministries. Students can log onto the site and take classes at any time to receive a certificate of training in a particular field.

Wilkes will soon be recording lectures for the new subscription streaming service which operates on multiple platforms, including mobile devices, ROKU, AppleTV, and Amazon FireTV. Each lesson on the service will be 12-15 minutes long. Carroll receives a portion of the revenue from the service.

Initial teachers for Seminary Now, launching this spring, include Scot McKnight, Roger Olson, Brenda Salter McNeil, Soong-Chan Rah, Ruth Haley Barton, Greg Boyd, Michael Bird, Nijay Gupta, Antipas Harris, James Bryan Smith, John Walton, Tremper Longman, David Fitch, James Chuong, and Lucy Peppiatt.
