A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Dr. Redditt was ordained to the ministry by its First Baptist Church in 1961. He served small churches as pastor in college and seminary, and has served as interim pastor, supply preacher, and speaker at various denominational functions in both Ohio and Kentucky. Dr. Redditt was a student at Eberhard Karls University, Tübingen, Germany before receiving his Ph.D. in 1972 at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Redditt served as Chair of the Department of Religion; Otterbein College, Westerville, OH (1972-1986).  He was part-time Instructor in Old Testament; Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda and East Africa Theological Seminary, Nairobi, Kenya (1987). He taught as part-time Instructor in Old Testament at Lexington Theological Seminary (1994-1996). He was Chair of the Religion Department at Georgetown College in Kentucky from 1986 to 2005 and continued as professor until his retirement from full time teaching in 2008. He now teaches part-time for the college as Professor Emeritus. He has taught at the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky, Lexington, KY since 2003 to the present. In 2009 he joined the faculty as Resident Fellow and doctoral supervisor at B. H. Carroll Theological Institute.

Dr. Redditt writes exegetical studies for ministers in Lectionary Homiletics. He has written numerous articles for Bible dictionaries and encyclopedias and longer articles for scholarly journals and collections. He has also written commentaries on Daniel and on Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi in the New Century Bible Commentary series, and a commentary on Zechariah 9-14 for the International Exegetical Commentary on the Old Testament. He has also co-edited three volumes of scholarly articles. In 2008 he published the Introduction to the Prophets for Eerdmans Publishing Company. Dr. Redditt is currently working on Volumes 1 and 2 Chronicles and a volume each on Ezra and Nehemiah for the Smyth & Helwys Bible Commentary. He also serves as Old Testament editor and writer for the Smyth and Helwys Bible Commentary series.

The Spring Colloquy featured Dr. Redditt in three plenary sessions, each followed by a question and answer period. He lectured on the twelve minor prophets of the Old  Testament. The sessions were designed for the Institute’s doctoral students but were open to all students, faculty, and the general public.
