Dr. Bill Tolar Teaches Course at First Baptist Church, Midland

Bill Tolar, Distinguished Fellow and Professor of Biblical Backgrounds and Archaeology at B. H. Carroll Theological Institute, taught a one-week intensive course “Biblical Backgrounds” at Carroll’s West Texas Center located at First Baptist Church, Midland, Texas. The course was offered May 6-10 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. each evening. The Biblical Backgrounds course is a study of the geography, history, and archaeology of the biblical world intended to provide a cultural and chronological framework for future study of both the Old and New Testaments. BHCTI students registered for the course received two hours of graduate credit. The course was also open to Readers wishing to audit the course. Members of First Baptist Church Midland were able to audit the course without charge. The audit fee for non-members was $40.

Bill Tolar holds the Doctor of Theology in Biblical Studies and Master of Divinity degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and M.A. degree in Greek and Roman History and B.A. in History and Bible degrees from Baylor University. He is a much-loved, world renown Bible scholar and former professor at Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After a 40-year teaching career, he ended his tenure at Southwestern as Dean of Theology, Provost and acting President. Dr. Tolar is the author of a Commentary on Revelation and has contributed articles to many bible dictionaries and journals. He has lectured in 53 countries on five continents and continues to maintain an active schedule of speaking, teaching, and lecturing in in the Holy Land.

When he is not serving as a supply preacher, he and his wife attend Agape Baptist Church in Ft. Worth where they are members.
