Tuân lives and works as a bi-vocational pastor in one of the most restrictive countries in the world. Despite facing opposition from his community, frequently being suspected of disloyalty, and enduring physical threats, this devoted kingdom servant has continued pursuing his PhD degree with B. H. Carroll. 

“My biblical, theological, and pastoral knowledge has been expanded and deepened by Carroll. Not only did I gain knowledge from the professors, but also a model of godly devotion and a commitment to serving the Lord and the Great Commission,” Tuân said. 

Continued study would not have been possible, he said, “without the help of friends and friends of friends, some of whom do not personally know me.” When he first enrolled, he received a scholarship for the first semester. At other times, other donors have stepped forward. 

When Tuân graduates from Carroll, he hopes to teach and train younger preachers within his denomination. He will also, he said, continue to translate for evangelists and other Christian speakers allowed to enter his country, “if the door is opened.” Tuân also has a God-given dream to help found a Christian university for his people.
