Online theological education reinvented

B.H. Carroll Theological Institute is a graduate-level community of faith and learning, dedicated to equipping men and women called to serve Christ in the diverse and global ministries of His church. That has been our mission since our founding in 2004, and Carroll was among the first to reinvent theological education for the 21st century.

Our courses have been “online” since the beginning, for the benefit of the local church.

In fact, Carroll believes theological education belongs to the church. We provide accredited theological education that is accessible, affordable, and achievable online. This encourages greater numbers of people to respond to the call to Christian ministry and makes it possible for those in full-time ministry positions to pursue a degree where they live and work.

Wherever there is a computer, there is a classroom. They’re not canned courses either. They’re courses taught by REAL professors who have a heart for theological education. Even during the challenges wrought by a global pandemic, Carroll students continue to access quality theological education online so they can serve God and their congregations well.

Master of Arts (Religion) student Anna Brooks said she appreciates the opportunity to continue serving in ministry while pursuing her education. “Going to seminary has enhanced my ability to effectively minister through preaching and teaching as I am a Pastor. It is hard work but very rewarding and I am able to share my knowledge with my congregation,” Brooks said.

B.H. Carroll Theological Institute also makes ministerial training more relevant, practical, and effective, as well as affordable and accessible to all Christian workers. Students choose to study at Carroll primarily based on affordability, flexibility, and the quality of the education they receive.

“The best part about learning online through Carroll is having total flexibility. I am able to pursue higher education while maintaining a full-time job and staying at my current church,” said Lauren Coetzee, who is pursuing her Master of Arts in Counseling degree. “I have the opportunity to build my class schedule around what’s happening in my life each semester and despite the upheaval brought on by COVID-19, Carroll’s online education model has been able to continue without a glitch. The professors genuinely care about my success and I have found them just as available, if not more so, than professors I’ve had at other schools with in-person and online classes.”

Now more than ever, those called to ministry in God’s Kingdom need access to affordable, quality, online theological education.

The good news is, B. H. Carroll Theological Institute’s accredited master’s degree programs can be completed online, so you don’t need to uproot your life to move closer to a brick and mortar seminary. You can learn online from where you already live, work, and serve and rest assured knowing that each of Carroll Institute’s Master’s programs offers hand-tailored courses that give you the specific training you need to excel in God’s ministry plan for your life.

“While the landscape of ministry preparation continues to change, Carroll is positioned to respond wherever those called to serve Christ and his church live and serve,” said Dr. Gene Wilkes, president of B.H. Carroll Theological Institute. “We stand on our foundation of biblically-based curricula while responding with new ways to deliver training to a new generation of church leaders.”
