Carroll Institute Welcomes a New Member to the Administrative Staff

Seth Allen was added to B. H. Carroll Theological Institute’s staff this fall as the institute’s Director of Online Instruction. Seth lives in Knoxville, TN and will train faculty remotely to use technological tools and adopt effective online teaching strategies in order to raise the bar of online learning at B. H. Carroll.

Mr. Allen graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC with a M.A. in Educational Media and Instructional Technology. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Sociology from Appalachian State University. He received his Master of Library and Information Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He did his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Spanish at Wingate University in Wingate, NC.

His many areas of expertise and experience include being a Theological Librarian, an Instructional Technologist and Faculty Training Specialist, an Online Instruction Librarian and an Adjunct Sociology Instructor at various community colleges. He was Head Librarian at Charlotte Christian College and Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC, from 2010-2012. He has published many articles and has presented conferences and workshops around many areas of the U.S.

Excellence in Online Teaching will be a monthly newsletter for Carroll faculty to share projects in Seth’s department, such as asynchronous tutorials and mini-courses for faculty professional development. He will also share articles and links related to educational technology and online teaching, such as fair use of copyrighted material and sharing lists of scholarly resources for theological education on the open web.
