Dr. Wood was ordained to the ministry at Memorial Baptist Church, Corsicana, Texas, on March 12, 2000. He loves to see lives changed by the power of the gospel. He feels blessed with the privilege of communicating the word of God and discipling the church to go out into the community and serve. Dr. Wood states, “The imagery of Christ as Shepherd guides my pastoring: leading, loving and living among the flock entrusted to him.” His calling is first of all to Christ and demands that he reflects the same calling Jesus had. “Jesus came for people. I love being with people! I enjoy preaching—the preparation and the presentation I find exhilarating! But at the end of the day, I enjoy serving people.” Currently, Dr. Wood is Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Midland, Texas.
