Frank and Pauline Patterson Spring Colloquy 2016 for Doctoral Students and Faculty

Carroll Institute will once again hold an “in-house” colloquy for Doctoral Students and Faculty on May 23–25Colloquy for Doctoral Students and FacultySeeking Excellence – learning workshops that will enhance their research and writing skills, offer guidelines to ensure the proper treatment of participants in their research studies, and provide safeguards against unethical conduct in research and writing2016-05-23 10:30:002016-05-25 15:00:00America/ChicagoThe Carroll Center, 6500 N. The colloquy is designed to be a retreat where students and faculty can participate in worship, fellowship, and workshops. Last year’s in-house colloquy proved to be an excellent opportunity for doctoral students, faculty, and doctoral supervisors to have discussions about topics such as Written Exam/Prospectus Writing Tips, the process of writing a Dissertation (PHD) or Project Report (DMIN), and training for new doctoral students and faculty.

The theme of this year’s Spring Colloquy is “Seeking Excellence.” Students will engage in a variety of learning workshops that will enhance their research and writing skills, offer guidelines to ensure the proper treatment of participants in their research studies, and provide safeguards against unethical conduct in research and writing.

One of the purposes of having an in-house colloquy is to provide a space where students can have informal conversations, share testimonies, ask questions about the doctoral program, give feedback and receive helpful suggestions from the doctoral directors and faculty. Paper presentations and panel discussions give students opportunity to learn from each other.

Some of the highlights of Spring Colloquy for the students are moments shared at the Carroll Coffee Bar and going out to dinner with fellow students in their respective clusters.
